A graduate of the University of Western Ontario Carmen holds an Honors degree in Music (Theory & Composition), a Masters of Music degree (clarinet performance) and a Bachelor Of Education degree. While at Western, Carmen studied clarinet with Robert Riseling and Jerome Summers. He studied composition and counterpoint with Peter Paul Koprowski and Peter Clements.
